Dave began his lighting career in 1987 when he joined with his father–the founder and namesake of Dave Murphy & Associates–in the business. Since 1987 Dave has worked hard to develop the DMA team and our roster of esteemed manufacturer partners to bring clients the absolute best package of products and services in the industry. Dave credits the success of DMA to its cornerstone principle for over 50 years: to maintain an unwavering dedication to customer care that fosters long-term, value-added relationships. Proof of Dave’s success is reflected in our growth in the outdoor municipal infrastructure field.

Darryl joined Dave Murphy & Associates in 2010 after a long career in the hospitality/residential development business. He supports the entire DMA team in all administrative and operational functions. With his CPA and MBA, Darryl continues to offer DMA’s partners and clients a unique business perspective when tackling the challenges of innovative technology, product migration, energy-saving models, and large system operations. Darryl’s experience and expertise help drive value not only to the DMA team but also to our partners and clients.

Melissa brings four decades of experience in the lighting industry to the team. She began her career in distribution and has spent the last 30+ years managing the office operations of Dave Murphy & Associates. From quotations to order management and customer service, Melissa brings the wealth of industry experience that delivers the quality support our customers and partners expect from such a long-term relationship.

William “Woody” Kapp began his career with the team at Dave Murphy & Associates in 2019. Woody brings a creative skill set to DMA and remains dedicated to delivering the highest-quality service to our clients and partners.He is exceptionally adept at prioritizing and supporting client’s specification needs, always providing superior service to them. Prior to DMA, Woody successfully coached youth and high school hockey while earning a bachelor’s degree from William Paterson University. Since graduation, he has pursued entrepreneurial ventures, gaining firsthand experience in B2B sales, much to our benefit!

Andrew joined Dave Murphy & Associates after several years in sales and in the healthcare industry. Supporting DMA’s sales operations, Andrew is focused on delivering value to DMA’s partners and clients while supporting our strong relationships in all facets of municipal streetscape development. He graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and holds an MBA from University of Phoenix.

Prior to joining DMA, Connie enjoyed eight years of sales experience in both healthcare and financial services. Connie’s experience and commitment to high-quality, thoughtful service benefits our clients and supports DMA’s quest to be the best specification house in the markets we serve as municipal infrastructure demands continue to evolve. She has a bachelor’s degree in economics and international business from William Paterson University.

Ron brings over 50 years of experience in the lighting industry to the DMA team. After graduating with a degree in electrical engineering from Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT), Ron spent 16 years with Lightning Electric Company, one of the largest electrical contractors in New Jersey, and started his own rep agency (Metro-Tech Sales) in 1988. Throughout his years of experience, Ron developed relationships with contractors, distributors, consultants, state agencies and manufacturers, enabling him to provide the best possible service to all parties. The key to Ron’s success is his understanding that communication and followup are key and that the adage “if it can go wrong, it will” must be continually addressed to avoid as many problems as possible.

Ron had nearly 20 years of outdoor lighting sales experience before joining the DMA team. After graduating from Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) with a bachelor’s degree in engineering science (majoring in computer science), Ron held sales and sales management positions before entering the lighting industry at Metro-Tech in 2003. His decades of sales knowledge and experience have enabled him to establish valuable relationships with key players in the lighting industry. Ron is a devoted family man whose wife, two children, and three grandchildren are the focus of his life outside of business and the center of his world.

Scott began his career over 20 years ago in the lighting and infrastructure business. Specializing in the DOT sector, Scott brings exceptional product knowledge to DMA as well as well-developed, strong relationships with his clients, which include state agencies, distributors, and specifiers. Scott manages projects from quotation to fulfillment, including order management and customer service to provide a seamless and positive experience.

Peter’s career includes over 13 years of experience in steel and aluminum fabrication and distribution for highway, bridge, traffic, and lighting applications. With a background in small-business operations, Peter offers DMA and its clients a diverse skill set and approach to relationships and project management. His personable and collaborative attitude, accompanied by excellent communication skills, enable him to resolve emerging issues before they become problems. Peter is excited to play to his strengths in specifications and contracts in support of DMA and its clients.

A veteran of the construction business, Doug brings a wealth of expertise to DMA. With years of strong industry relationships in construction and DOT, Doug specializes in public sector LED lighting projects in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His endless creativity personifies a “win-win” approach linking his success with the success of his clients.
